CT Surgery APP Locum Contract in New York! Flexible scheduling with heavy OR time!

We are hiring for an exciting opportunity with an esteemed CT surgical program!

Seeking APPS to assist on a locum basis in a heavy OR based role where you will be mentoring junior PAs and assisting to manage the increased case volume.

Program Overview:

• Established CT surgical program over 30 years old.
• Team Composition: 2 junior surgeons (3 years post-fellowship), support from senior surgeons in Syracuse, and 3 junior PAs (1 year of experience).
• Current Volume: 6-8 heart surgeries weekly, primarily CABGs and some valve surgeries.
• Program Goal: Seeking to add a fourth member to the team on a locum basis to manage increased patient volume and provide educational support.

Contract Duration:

• Initial Assignment: Minimum of 3 months, with flexibility to extend.
• Will consider temp-to-perm candidates as well.
• Open to considering permanent candidates if available.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Primary Focus: Education and support for junior PAs in the OR.
• Equipment Usage: Maquet systems.
• Scope of Practice: Emphasis on teaching in the OR and some involvement in CVICU. Full continuum of care is not expected.
• Schedule: Flexible, designed to facilitate PA education and support in the OR. Currently, no weekday on-call responsibilities, with a view to include this as the team expands.

Support and Training:

• The locum APP will play a crucial role in overseeing the junior PAs, ensuring adherence to best practices, and providing guidance through direct observation and mentorship.
• The team has no quality issues; the focus is on addressing the learning curve of the PAs and managing increasing surgical volume.

Call Schedule:

• Current System: PAs handle weekend calls, which often extend to full-day responsibilities (currently 1 in 3 weekends).
